I'm so happy about the final fantasy stuff. My heart is full, thank you for FINALLY making it happen Xbox and SE ♥️
I don't play CoD so that brought the show down for me, a Fable showing at the end would have been amazing but seeing as it wasn't 7.5/10
8.5 if it had handheld pricing..
Some really good games. Would have though fable or the new gears would have turned up. That keeper game looks nuts. 😂 Def a lot to look forward to, I just hope my series X can survive until the next gen.
Started off strong but then just fizzled out. How did we not get any new info about fable, gears e-day, everwild, or the next forza?
I’m very excited for the outer worlds 2 and clockwork revolution looked good. ending the show with an COD reveal was extremely underwhelming.
On a positive note it seemed like the showcase confirmed that the future of Xbox is multi platform with access to Xbox library AND other libraries.
My favorites were
1. Grounded 2
2. Clockwork revolution
3. High on life 2
4. Keeper
5. There are no ghosts at the Grand
Good showcase keeper looks good and clockwork revolution as well but not sure why perfect dark fable or the gears of war prequel weren't shown?
No Fable, no perfect dark, no forza, no ever wild, no state of decay 3, no Ninja theory, no O.D. Pretty poor performance in my opinion but keeper and clockwork look cool.
I think the most interesting thing overall was the Xbox handheld. I’ve read the blog post. Steam is directly integrated into the Xbox UI. It’s not accessed via some hacky sideload nonsense. This essentially confirms all the rumours that the successor to XSX will support Steam too. And it’s not just a side thought, it’s front and centre feature. This is their vision for Xbox, it’s basically just a PC optimised for controller play. Sounds absolutely brilliant honestly! Incredibly exciting!
For the games, Keeper was easily my personal highlight.
PS State of Play, Summer Games Fest, and the Xbox Showcase have all been lackluster for me. Glad to see it's good for others though.
The only thing I'm really looking forward to is Sword of the Sea and Clockwork Revolution.
It wasn’t bad but certainly not as good as in previous years.
Underwhelmoing (but not bad). Unfortunately nothing major for 2nd half of the year except NG4 and OW2.
No info about fable, e-day, perfect dark, sod3…
However a lot of interesting AA/indie projects. Meatboy, tony hawk, lana 2 - kinda cool.
And the handheld. Regardless of how successful it will be - a very interesting move. Intrigued to see a deep dive into xbox button and interface.
There were around 15 games I want to play and most of those are on Game Pass, that’s a big win for me. But I was pissed they kept showing Silksong at the beginning and then didn’t deliver. Why on earth would you do that? Maddening.
Clockwork Revolution continues to look incredible and stole the show. But disappointed neither Fable, Perfect Dark or Everwild showed up. I thought it started super strong but tailed off in the second half. And ending with COd was disappointing. A mixed bag.
Great to see Everwild……….. oh wait. What an absolute *****$how of a showcase. Very poor again imo
BO7 is a big L. Another cheap move like releasing mw3 after mw2 so it felt like dlc for $70. And this could be $80 now lol.
Sad to see no Starfield DLC but a bunch of ESO and Fallout 76 junk.
It was a lot of predictable sequels, live service seasons, remakes, and some games that looked absolutely awful.
No info on a new Halo or a remaster of Fallout 3. I give the show a 7 out of 10.
@BleedingDreamer Phil Spencer announced that the Halo remaster would be coming next year as part of the Xbox 25-year celebration.
A lot of people missed that he also said a new Forza (hopefully Horizon) would be coming next year. Along with Gears: E-Day and Fable.
JUST GIVE US WHAT WE WANT, SCALEBOUND FOR THIS GEN PLEASE!!!!
DawnWalker is one to watch out for. Ex Witcher 3 devs if I recall and the premise (going off the trailer from a few months back) looks outstanding. I personally thought this showcase was very, very good. Game after game, lots of diversity, and lots and lots of Game Pass goodness!
Plague Tale looks legit, amazing.
@awp69 Woah, what? I missed that! I heard him say the next Forza (I assume Horizon too - and multiplat day one which will sell like hotcakes) but I missed the Halo bit. Did he say remaster? I thought it was going to be a reboot :/
Gotta agree with the others, a bit underwhelming for me personally. If you’re an Xbox-only player I can see why the FF news was exciting, though most people have the means to play them elsewhere (and most FF/JRPG fans surely have a PS5).
This isn’t me saying it’s bad, just there wasn’t anything here that blew my socks off.
@Kaloudz He didn’t say remaster but he did say “return of a classic” so that’s why I was assuming it would be a remaster. Would have been nice to hear more about it either way.

@EvenStephen7 @awp69 Thanks guys. Just saw this very thing posted here on pX. I appreciate it!
Yeah I totally missed that lol. Must have been when one of the kids yapped at me. Phil looks a bit gaunt though, doesn't he :/ I wonder if he's due to retire soon? Poor bloke looks worn.
@EvenStephen7
This entire generation has felt lackluster. Obviously there have been good games, some even great, but no surprise blockbusters in the making that wowed me.
Maybe I'm losing interest in gaming a bit, but I'm just waiting on that wow game still.
On the plus side Aphelion, Outer Wilds 2 and Clockwork Revolutions were right up my street… on the minus side was all the potential news we could of had… the handheld will not cheap for the elite one… some interesting AA games that could be good… Grounded 2 caught me by surprise… Final Fantasy but at full price? Should have done a day 1 discount as now I am just waiting for a sale and that’s not good….all in all a solid B but the games themselves get an A
I'm disinterested as soon as they say 2026, show me footage close to the release date or it's incredibly frustrating 🤣
@Millionski I'm still so annoyed with them cancelling another year of MW2, as it was the first time in years I'd played a COD game shortly after release, and MW3 was clearly cash grab laziness
@AlwaysPlaying I've got FF16 showing as £49.99 on the Xbox store so that's some kind of discount from full price I guess.
Good showing, Outer Worlds 2 looks good, as the most creative game there, cough, as telling of this garbage industry, but otherwise yeah it's good but either a 5/10 or a 3/10 show. No SOD3, odd.
Handheld was just the branded one, it looks fine.... The other one will come/been postponed to next console or never so who knows with that one.
I am fine with cartoony games not realism boring games with little creativity in their mechanics to be convincing of ideas/of their worlds rules for audiences wanting realism which is why I don't care for realistic artstyle is the world rules have to be convincing.
If we see realistic artstyles but crazy rules fine by me but we don't.
Like State of Play good variety and not as deep of showings but and less Indie uninspired same brain cell garbage but still a mix of good and pass worthy here. I'll stick to retro 5/6th gen games ideas regardless of how janky they are their mechanics compell me still because we don't see that creativity in mechanics anymore and graphics mean nothing to me, reactive level design/movesets do, or modern era weird games as some of these are, but not many.
Outer Worlds 2 was not as level design reactive (like many RPGs, always menus/themes (which are good and we don't see many like it as common, besides Outer World/Journey to the Savage Planet types nowadays) and story telling first level design is non-existent and dull as usual) but enough skills, radio and others reactive or creative. So for Outer Worlds 2 it's a start but I mean come on. The studio liveliness shows but the game, it's a step up, but I've waited so long for ANY devs RPG or otherwise focused to do ANYTHING exciting I am over it. I think ambitious where games are empty gameplay wise for a reason and play old games, why because this era is so slow and sucks with boring culture/themes/story telling and boring level design, devs can't make games just boring movie like or art pieces I don't want to play, look at sure, but play no.
Does it take time absolutely, so I get that but most others are so bland that shine only does so much. Like i said, it's a start.
Sigh we won't ever get Dead Rising weapon variety or moveset perks (platformers are too lazy too) or hive mine enemies (organic, robotic, anything I want that to be a thing in 1 game at least) or other stuff I have wanted games to do for YEARS.
Why can't I just summon ice (or use any other reactive elements or even QTE like but not a choice but reactive on if I move at the time or not like Infamous 1 did) and move it around or something.
Games are so static and scripted.
Outer Worlds 2 is going in the right direction for expanding an old school WRPG to modernise and expand on itself, but it's also still very limiting. Oh well.
Otherwise some fair announcements/updates.
More Clockwork Revolution was good,
Gamefreak making a bigger scale better game then Pokemon isn't surprising. Their non-Pokemon projects are always great and underrated. This looks great. Fair I assume Samurai/mech, seems cool.
Plague Tale sequel looks cool of a spin on things with Minotaur's Maze I guess, pretty cool.
Meat Boy 3D looks cool, kind of gives me Kirby or others vibes. Mix of 2D/3D in a way of level design but looks great. Never expected them to make such a game but still cool. Not going to be as creative as others can with platformer ideas just begging to be explored or returned, but to stick to what Meat Boy does sure it looks good.
Ninja Gaiden 4 looked fine.
Part 2:
Grounded 2 not sure we needed but seems fair. There is other Honey I Shrunk The Kids kind of stuff I'd like to see done or with creatures at grass levels but Grounded does a fair job of it. Hella the mouse game seemed fine.... But yeah I assume no Mushroom Men, Toy Story or others types these days of interesting other ideas to go into for level design/possibilities.
Don't Nod making a game not like Remember Me but about as interesting as that that isn't a Life As Strange like, YES PLEASE. This game didn't look like much but for what it is, I'm interested. Remember Me was such a good game, this isn't that scale but it's still good to see them do something not Life Is Strange like again when I know they can do more.
There Are Not Ghosts At The Grand gave me oh this could be good to oh House Flipper like no thanks to oh this could be good again.
Age of Mythology DLC is nice.
Mudang looks fair from what I remember.
Planet of Lana 2 is fine to see. I'm not into these but they have a place they are good games. Gave me Song of the Deep vibes with the vehicles in it.
Fallout 76 fishing/farming update.... it needs depth, fair trailer though was very Fallout but yeah, needs more.
Solo Leveling, sure, why not. Invisible fighting game, sure why not could be better but eh.
Aniimo looks interesting, good mix of creatures actually doing something in the environment, maybe. But another survival game? I mean fair but will it be as reactive maybe. It seems fair but if just 'Palworld was successful copy that' then yeah pass. It needs enough of it's own identity.
Ah Eyedentity we won't see you ever again even if different type of PS3 game/tech demo/trailer. Or Coded Arms Assault.
Tony Hawk 3 and 4 with other skins/characters, sure looks like it's coming along well enough.
Part 3:
Gears 1 reminder and crossplay/progression, yep....... Give people 2 to Judgement sure, but otherwise who cares. I already own all Gears games besides 5 so to me it doesn't effect me till E Day one comes out but come on who cares about this, show it at other shows not the audience for Xbox that already knows. XD
Persona 4 remake (not enough porting, to porting to remaking, why not remake 1 or 2 many people haven't experienced, or even just I don't know not remaking them, Atlus being clueless to money hungry is just hilarious, the amount that got a PS TV/Vita or waited or got it PC to then ports like people experienced 3, 4 or 5 however they could, not probably as much 1 or 2 beside PS Classic version of 1 and 2 being however reachable).
Sea of Thieves update..... Sure don't care.
Cronos looks, fine....
Is it too late for FF7/16 to come over no idea but good to see it happen then not I guess for Xbox owners finally getting to experience these.
Phil can say new Forza all he wants, I am NOT happy with the direction with the series or even 3rd party racing games, let alone GT7, it has more modes/event type variety but still barely, the directions suck in racing games. Indie and AAA/AA, etc. ones. I am so disgusted with the racing/platformer/shooter genres they are complete and utter garbage and so way behind in creative ideas and just safe roll out slop.
If it's another Forza Horizon then who cares, no interest in that or many open world racers directions if at all playing any they just haven't done it for me, then again many open worlds are boring mechanically or mission types too so that formula is just boring of RPG quest/moveset boredom. Dumbed down movesets, eh worlds and boring lack of appealing set pieces or level design possibilities.
If it's another Forza Motorsport then well that's on it's focused live service journey.
Part 4:
I don't care it's barren, barely got any interesting modes/progression and a total joke Phil. More tracks/cars is boring. The core in FM8/23 or GT7 suck. Both these PS/Xbox IPs are terrible. Restart, get better staff with better ideas please and ACTUALLY care about game design or cars, either way, better staff across the board.
Wake me up when you make a BETTER Forza Motorsport 8 or 9 or spin off (not mobile trash reskins either) that isn't trash, 5 to 7 were terrible but still worth my time. FM23 or FM8 is a joke and not worth my time at all.
Come back to me Phil Spencer when Turn 10 have better staff and ideas to contribute, not the jokes you have in there currently who don't care about cars, have no creative ideas for the series at all and can't even make up other modes like bowling or more back in the day, I hate Forza Motorsport 6 but it still has what 5 and 7 had let alone what 1 to 4 had, to a degree, FM23/8 is garbage.
No 3rd party racing games can impress me, even Wreckfest does ok for a kickstarter game so to give them some fairness, but Wreckfest 2 looks kind of generic and safe for a sequel, it doesn't lean into it's aethestic of being what it can be, Flatout series had more modes or even creativity, but I know it can be more then races, derbies and scrapboxes (not in a bad way, vehicle variety was visually interesting, but mechanically kind of boring and again 2 modes for 20 hours, very boring, classes progression is boring in any 3rd party or Forza based racing game, sick to death of it), lean into more with the tracks, or cars mechanically, but nope, just a safe sequel, boring and Wrecreation better be good for how creative that should be.
They are just as lazy or too motorsports smitten to have a brain too and creatively use cars in modes/track design/point to point locations real/fictionally exciting ways. The racing genre sucks.
Give me like Ride 4 did a creative spin on a campaign like Forza Motorsport 1 and 2 did, or 3 and 4 did. Try something new even. But not the same generic garbage. Racing games need better progression, track design, or car mechanics and I don't see it.
Even the WRC 23/Sega GT/Pure type car builder is cool but I mean I need more to be impressed as I want interesting ideas again. Even GT7's car dealer cutscene was just that, a cutscene, give me a PGR2 dealership to walk around or garages in the other PGR games, or a Forza Motorsport Forza Vista type thing to explore the cars/hear details about them.
I play 5/6th gen racing because they had mechanically or progression design exciting ideas, nowadays it's boring and safe or motorsport realistic and generic. I want creativity in my racing games. I am not seeing it.
Games can be anything yet devs are so realistic/safe of creative ideas. Make something a game can be with imagination not those without any imagination or deep enough imagination. But it won't happen. Studio staff or publishers are too comfortable or cyclic/formulaic and boring.
The staff aren't creative enough. I will continue to play old games till then. I can't make it myself, I can think ambitiously but I can't make it. So why not play old games for inspiration and think it up or enjoy those instead. Modern era gaming is trash.
Part 5:
The Behaviour studio concept art game couldn't get me more excited it won't ever happen as they continue with Dead by Daylight. Or any Indies make the same nostalgic garbage beside Inertial Drift or Distance, the rest are just boring unlicensed motorsport fixated repetitive garbage that is so uncompelling. Give me creativity and modes/event types with interesting rules, but no they go the safe option instead.
Keeper looks fine, very Double Fine, gave off Eternal Cylinder/other types of adventure game vibes. It looks cool but I think could be a bit boring. Not that you need combat to be interesting but it isn't clear what it is yet and some adventure games need a bit more whether puzzles, or level design to be interesting not just a journey that is pretty bland/artstyle is the only exciting part about it. They need more to do with the lighthouse/creature thing or the animals you come across on your journey to aid with level design. Please.
COD Black Ops 7 looked cool then yeah nah. I am fine with sci-fi COD games but to me I'd take a Quantum Break 2 or a more exciting game then a COD game with a cool trailer and i Know will suck and not be that exciting. But then again who knows. I want them to impress me with the scifi possibilities they can offer like this trailer. I bet they can't do it for a cool campaign with upside down or time bending or other stuff. Most play it safe and while COD has the production quality/budget, they still cut corners.
I gave up by Black Ops 3 and not just because it was the last co-op COD either it's because they just weren't doing interesting ideas anymore to me.
Even then bullets hitting wheels in multiplayer, why did it take that long. XD
Either way it looks cool, but trailers don't mean a lot. Prove it too me whichever studio is heading it. I want an amazing sci-fi campaign. I want a good creative story based shooter again, we barely see them and that makes me sad. I play PS3/360/Wii and older shooters for a reason we barely see ideas like those anymore and I want more of them not the same safe/realistic or boring singleplayer games safe direction or multiplayer garbage we have seen or 10+ years now. Even Indies make multiplayer garbage, so COD has the multiplayer area doing fine, give us a good campaign.
MW3 remake to me it was a bit hmm. Cut corners or different direction like segmented parts of maps a SW Battelfront 2 2005 would do or Unreal Tournament 3 or something matches/story around it. I assume many went cut corners so yeah.... I don't know what to think as never experienced it and don't just go along with I play or research something. So being smart not following the rest.
So impress me COD studios. You have a great trailer, try and live up to it (not that I take marketing/advertising seriously) but I do want to see an interesting game out of this sci-fi angle.

Objectively I’d rate this a solid B or B+. There had to have been something for everyone. However this was a mere C for me. The only things I was interested in that we already knew about were Elder Scrolls 6 and Fable, neither of which were shown.
We saw a bunch of new stuff but it was rather mediocre looking (especially that ‘we have Bioshock Infinite at home’ game, can’t recall the title) , with few exceptions. Keeper and the Ghost Hotel both looked quite good, but that was pretty much it.
And the handheld? Seriously? So you’re telling me my choices are either parked in front of the best pc I can afford for as close to max settings as I can get, or sitting in front of my 77” 4K 144hz OLED playing on console, or…sitting hunched over a 1080p screen, one eye on severely compromised settings and the other on an ever dwindling battery? Who is this for? Whatever the handheld will cost, you can build a more capable pc or else go the console route. Is this for kids on the schoolbus? People who ride the commuter train for 2hrs everyday to work? Oh, also it’s hideous. It elicited the same ‘oh dear god that is one ugly hunk of plastic’ that the PS5 reveal drew out of me, only in handheld form.
@Nexozi I think the series X is going to last a lot longer than people realize.
I thought it was a solid showcase season, but that Xbox blew every other show away. So, yeah, I give them a high grade—an A for me.
@Valhura PS hand me downs? You do know what's been topping the charts in US and UK on PS don't you?...
The showcase was pretty damn good imo. Not the best, granted, but pretty damn good all the same. Contrary to what you say there were only a few "hand me downs" as you call it, the rest of the showcase was game after game after game.
Game Pass continues to excell.
It's pretty crazy that even without showcasing big AAA titles like Fable, Gears E-Day, Forza Horizon, Blade, Perfect Dark, state of decay 3, and others, Xbox still managed to deliver the best conference of the Summer Game Fest. There were huge announcements, like the Indiana Jones DLC, Black Ops 7, Plague Tale Resonance, Final Fantasy, Clockwork Revolution, Ninja Gaiden 4, Outer Worlds 2, and High on Life 2.
Everything is Xbox Play Anywhere, proving that third-party publishers are willingly embracing the ecosystem—great news for Xbox players. Almost everything is coming to Game Pass, and there were even some exclusives: Clockwork Revolution, Grounded 2, There Are No Ghosts at the Grand, Solo Leveling Arise, Animo, and Keeper.
So, yes, it could have been better—not quite as amazing as last year, which was exceptional—but it's impressive to see how much Xbox still has up its sleeve. A very solid conference. And It's pretty normal that they're saving some of the really big games for Xbox's 25th anniversary.
Welp guess i will head back to gamepass when the new age of mythology comes out. I hope they keep expanding. Would love to see African Mythology featured.
@ZYDIO I was talking about hoping that my personal series X lasts the next couple of years. Multiplayer black ops 6 is unplayable, stuttering like mad. Even Forza Motorsport in career is stuttering quite a bit. Uninstalled and reinstalled black ops 6 so going to see if that has helped. As south of midnight had no issues. So not sure if it's GPU or the wireless network card. My launch series X had a faulty wireless card. So maybe I'm just unlucky!
Did any of my farfetched hopes get announced?
So yeah, nothing I wanted got announced and the few exceptions all have caveats. XBOX just isn't the same company I used to love back in the 2000's. I know next year looks like it'll be a nice throwback year... but I feel like each year we're always saying "next year will be the year". It's hit the point where that might finally be true... but it's kinda too little too late.
I'll play Forza Horizon 6 (if that is the game they're referring to) but each entry keeps focusing less on single player and more on live service stuff I don't like. I also kinda just lost most interest in Gears over the years and I guarantee Halo will just be yet another re-release of the original, just in Unreal Engine 5 this time. Not very exciting for me, personally.
Sorry to be a Debbie downer. I know most of the games they're developing will probably be objectively good and make others happy. XBOX just hasn't done much for me this gen, which is a shame because I loved them back in the early days.
@Coletrain Same. That was the only thing I was missing on Xbox!
@Altaria_97 Most of that will come. I think it's time to remake the first Banjo-Kazooie games, though.
@Balaam_ different people have different preferences for different experiences. That's why they make all of these different things. Also, you can connect your PC to your "77" 4K 144 HZ OLED".
Looking forward to
1) Gears of War Reloaded
2) Grounded 2
3) Persona 4 Revival
4) Black Ops 2
5) Super Meat Boy 3D
6) Beast of Reincarnation
@Nexozi There might be something wrong with your Series X, maybe even the HDMI cable or the TV. Maybe see if other people are having the same experience with those games.
@ZYDIO Got COD working again. Just needed to uninstall and reinstall. 😂
@Nexozi Awesome. I wouldn't think they would release a game like that in a broken state.
@ZYDIO Was strange, had been playing fine at release then it started getting worse and worse. Which was why I had been thinking it might have been the was the wireless connection issue.
