Around a month ago now, 2K developer Gearbox Software speculated that its upcoming Borderlands 4 release could be pushed to $80 to meet rising costs, but we can confirm that that's not the case, thanks to digital storefront listings going live today.
Borderlands 4 is priced at $70 on Xbox Series X|S, for the base game on the Microsoft Store. The publisher has put $100 and $130 versions live digitally as well - featuring a bunch of bonus DLC packs and the likes. We'll throw a link to the standard edition down below, which can now be pre-ordered on Xbox:
The upcoming Gearbox shooter is 2K's next major release — arriving on September 12th, 2025 — which means that the publisher isn't raising its AAA game prices, for now. It's long been speculated that the company may change course when GTA 6 comes out — now planned for May 2026 — but nothing official has suggested an $80 price for the next GTA just yet. We'll just have to wait and see on that one.
For now though, Borderlands fans can rest easy that this upcoming entry in the series won't be pushing its price up to $80, despite the likes of Microsoft and Nintendo recently committing to that move with The Outer Worlds 2 and Mario Kart World, respectively.
