It's been just over a week since Final Fantasy 16 debuted on Xbox as part of the Xbox Games Showcase 2025, and considering it's a mainline title in the series, you might assume it's sold pretty well on the platform so far.
Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be the case. Social media user Lakrix, who's part of the team at Alinea Analytics, has told our Hookshot Media colleague Sammy Barker that FF16 sold around 22,000 copies on Xbox in its first week.
It's worth repeating these are just sales estimates rather than concrete figures, but we're assuming the official number isn't far off. 22,000 copies isn't exactly setting the world alight - it apparently sold around 3 million on PS5 at launch.
So, is this a case of Xbox players not wanting to buy Final Fantasy games, or Square Enix waiting too long to bring a former PlayStation exclusive to the platform? Maybe it's a bit of both? We're keen to hear from you down in the comments below, and we'll be sure to let you know if Square Enix reveals any official sales stats in the near future.
